Advanced Racing Clinics
The Advanced Racing Clinics are designed for those skiers who are interested in ski racing and moving to the next level of competition. Most skiers will move on to U.S.S.A. or middle school competition. We will continue to emphasize the development of fundamental ski skills, while also introducing race course tactics for both slalom and giant slalom that will help prepare the athletes for competition. We will incorporate a wider variety of skill-appropriate drills that will help skiers adapt to changing terrain, snow conditions and slalom and giant slalom course sets. Participants will be required to set and discuss goals for each week and the season. Skiers will be responsible for understanding the purpose of drills, learning to inspect and read race courses independently and seek feedback from the coaches. There will be a simulated race night that will help the skiers understand the proper way to prepare for a race and what is expected of them while at a ski race. Speakers and special guests may also give presentations on ski specific topics or to share their skiing experience and achievements. Athletes will range in age from 7-12. Participation in this clinic will be subject to the coaches’ collective discretion.
Advanced Racing Clinics will be held from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Hickory Hills starting January 3 and ending on February 23. There will not be an Advanced Racing Clinic on January 26 due to the Middle School Invitational. The cost is $275.
