Hello GTSC families!
We are excited to get our ski season started and will host a Club-wide virtual meeting NEXT WEEK, Wednesday October 21 at 7pm to help all better understand what our season will likely look like and changes to expect. As individuals, families, and Grand Traverse Ski Club members, we are all coping with the challenges of COVID-19. Looking to the bright side, skiing has not been cancelled and the GTSC is ready to make the most of it safely! We are hopeful to get 100% participation in this virtual meeting – it will last no more than 15-30 minutes and provide important information so please put it on your calendar.

In addition to discussing upcoming season changes at the meeting, we will also share our need for your help. Covid-19 has impacted not only how we think about safety, but also our ability to fundraise. The majority of the fundraisers that have historically supported our Club were cancelled for obvious safety reasons. We need your help to deliver the quality and variety of ski experiences that each of us expects and relies on from the GTSC - these programs and safety gear which is subsidized and supported historically through our annual fundraising efforts.
In lieu of the Ski Swap, Annual Dinner and Auction, and MS Movie, this year we will be hosting an online fundraiser, VERTICAL RAISE (see attached letter). This virtual fundraiser will allow GTSC the opportunity to easily share our fundraising goals with friends and family through email and social media – safely allowing them to contribute to help our Club.
Money raised from VERTICAL RAISE will allow us to deliver on our commitment to the youth of the Grand Traverse region, by providing affordable and accessible winter alpine ski instructional opportunities. Funds also will offset the cost of additional safety, training, and coaching equipment – some of which is routinely needed, and other items are new costs related to ensuring safety during the pandemic.
Each of us does so much and have so many great memories tied to time spent at Hickory Hills with the Grand Traverse Ski Club. Perhaps this year more than any other, we are all looking forward to ski season! In spite of the pandemic, this Club will continue to operate in the spirit community, volunteerism and with a commitment to our families. Your support in this new fundraiser is critical, and we cannot thank you enough for your participation!
Together we can make this a great year for our skiers!
