For the week ahead – please see Schedule. This week we do have a Middle School Race AT Boyne Mountain – GS only. See below:

- Under Assignments – please note our needs for the following (it takes a Village!)
- Bus Chaperone / Food setup/teardown Parents
- Race workers – starter, starter assistant, etc.
- Food and drink items (can send with team)

**SUNDAY RACES:
I hope all are back this week after a fun powder skiing weekend off from racing =) Batten down the hatches folks because this last weekend of GTSC Sunday racing is set to be a doozy of excitement!!!
Weekend of Sat Feb 22 & Sun Feb 23:
Please note we have 2 upcoming race events in our TeamSnap Schedule for this weekend:
- Feb 22 – Holiday Race Team (HRT) Invitational – this is an optional race to attend across town hosted by our pals at HRT at Mt. Holiday!
- Information on this event was sent out Friday in a clubwide email.
- This is an OPTIONAL race event!
- If your skier chooses to participate, race and coaching fees are assessed separately as detailed in the email.
- To register, please follow the instructions provided in Fridays email.
- This optional race event does NOT count towards Welborn qualification.
- Feb 23 – Final GTSC Sunday Race – this will be 1 GS and 1 SL – fire up and come prepared with both!!
- This is the last weekend of regular season GTSC Sunday races.
- Sunday Feb 23 GTSC races DO count towards the final Welborn scoring.
As we look towards the Welborn Championship Race on March 2 – just a few reminders to GTSC families on where to find more information on this race:
- Welborn is a qualification-based Championship Race.
- The top 5 racers from each club, plus 1 alternate, are invited to race on behalf of each attending Club.
- All racers ski both GS and SL.
- The race is at The Highlands – as soon as we have a Fact Sheet to share out we will!
- If your racer also races USSS, they must NOT have competed in more than 50% of the CR3 USSS Races, and regularly attended GTSC Sunday Races.
- GTSC identifies the top 5 racers per age group by scoring weekly Sunday Races. The GTSC scoring system is transparent and shown on our website.
- Weekly results are shown here: https://timing.gtskiclub.org/
- Welborn Cup ranking/standings are shown here: https://timing.gtskiclub.org/wellborn.php
- Huge thank you to all our timing crew (Steve Nowak, Kelley Travis, Rob Mittelstaedt, Bill Bageris…) and Tim Barrons (backend IT assistance) for helping to ensure we have this information week to week! (trust me, it didn’t used to be this available folks!!! It was a lot of parent math going on to try and know where you were – ha!)
- Final Welborn qualifiers are determined following the final GTSC Sunday Race and each notified/confirmed that night (Feb 23).
- If notified of qualification, GTSC skiers (and families) will need to make a quick decision on whether or not they are choosing to attend Welborn on behalf of GTSC that night.
- Please have these conversations this week as a family to start the dialogue =)
Please reach out anytime to coaches with questions!!

**USSS & FIS Race Teams – MS USSS, HS USSS, Intro to USSS, and FIS
We hope last weekend was restful for our USSS/FIS racers and filled with some fun skiing in the powder!
We have some busy weeks ahead – so let’s show up ready to focus and dominate every training and racing opportunity – we are heading into Championship Race season, folks!
For the week ahead:
All per TeamSnap Schedule – this will be a training week with no races. Time to rest, refocus, refine our training and start looking ahead to Championship season!
Training – All USSS/FIS teams:
Please see the Schedule for this week – it’s a lot going on with options for all depending on what your goals/preference is.
Note we will offer a Saturday morning training for anyone interested (and in town!); starts at 11am at Hickory.
Racing – All USSS Teams:
- Hosking Central Championship Race –
- Thank you to those who joined us last week for our Hosking Informational meeting.
- Reminder – REGISTRATION NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED ASAP via Ski Reg! Late fees are a bear folks!
- Please, please mark your Availability via TeamSnap Schedule for the training days and races so we can plan coaching accordingly =)
- This race is specific to our U14 and U16 racers.
- These are the qualifying race series for the 3 championship races taking place in Colorado in early March.
- See my prior email specific to Hosking races – including Fact Sheet and race/volunteer information!
- All links and information can also be found on the CR3 website: https://www.region3cussa.org/
- We hope you continue to reach out with any unanswered questions – we are here to help!
- Middle School Race @ Boyne Mountain –
- Only for our MS USSS racers to consider only.
- For those MS Racers not attending Hosking – this is another race option.
- See TeamSnap Schedule – we will need lot of parent help as this is a Boyne Mtn race that GTSC helps host!
- Please be sure to mark your Availability!! It’s very important to coaches and volunteers!
- Please note bus volunteer, race volunteer and food/drink help still needed =)
- With a smaller crew attending due to Hosking, thank you for stepping up!
We also want to recognize many (if not all?) of our HS USSS and FIS racers will also participate in the MHSAA State meets on Monday, February 24th! Go out there and crush like the bosses you are!
Good luck to all our GTSC racers this week – no matter which opportunities you participate in! We are proud of you for all your hard work this season!!
