**INTRO TO SKI LEVEL DEVELOPMENT
We are so proud of how awesome our young, new skiers are doing! Thank you for showing up with smiles and great attitudes to learn =)
- FOCUS this week will be on:
- Putting on both skis and getting up on our own
- Skier Code #5 & 6
- Continued independent movement on hill and the conveyor belt
REMINDERS:
- Arrive 30 minutes early to ensure plenty of time to get your pass, prepare your skier, get in gear, use the restroom before start time.
- Purchase your passes online in advance – it’s a time saver!
- If you are renting skis, remember the lines were long and a bit slow – other options:
- Potentially consider Boyne Country Sports or Don Orr programs that grow with you kiddos!
- Please check TeamSnap Assignments for any available Lodge Parent spots that need your help!
- Reminder Lodge Parents will get a yellow bib and a radio from the head coach before practice and help out kiddos that may need assistance if coach radios you =)
**SKI LEVEL DEVELOPMENT
Last week was a chilly one! Thank you for persevering through the challenges that come with continual low temps – we appreciate your understanding as we welcome winter at last =)
- FOCUS this week will be on:
- Skier Code #5 & 6
- Lifting up one ski (balance!)
- Downhill ski
- Arrive 30 minutes early to ensure plenty of time to get your pass, prepare your skier, get in gear, use the restroom before start time.

- Reminder Lodge Parents will get a yellow bib and a radio from the head coach before practice and help out kiddos that may need assistance if coach radios you =)
**RACE CLINICS
Bundle up, racers! Updates below:
Monday Night Race Clinic (USSS focus):
- Reminder – all Monday Race Clinics will be SL
- Arrive 15-20 minutes early to ensure plenty of time to get ready and meet coaches.
- Skiers are to meet coaches at the top of Swede for training.
- All SL gear is required for Race Clinics, including chin bars and shin guards.
Wednesday Night Race Clinic:
- Wednesday Night Race Clinics will be either SL or GS, it will be the same as the Sunday Race discipline that week – this is reflected in the TeamSnap Schedule.
- Please look for this and prepare accordingly each week! This week is SL.
- Arrive 15-20 minutes early to ensure plenty of time to get ready and meet coaches.
- Coaches will meet skiers at the base outside the lodge, or at the top of the Swede course.
Race Clinics (Tues/Thurs):
Last week was a COLD one, and we were thrilled to see so many skiers out crushing the slopes bundled up appropriately! Thank you for staying positive and making the most of training time!
- FOCUS this week will be on:
- Drills and gate training
- Outside ski pressure
- Tuesday – SL; Thursday – GS
- Note discipline in your TeamSnap Schedule – in general: Tues-SL ; Thurs-GS. Subject to change so please be sure to check this weekly.

**MIDDLE SCHOOL RACE TEAM (MSRT):
What an exciting week ahead we have for MSRT! Two races coming up with training in between! Please see TeamSnap Schedule – below are a few additional notes on the race days:
- Monday – Race at Nubs Nob hosted by Petoskey Middle School – a great day for all who could join!
- Results were sent out last night and the lost and found is all found!
- Wednesday – Our friends across town are hosting us for their HRT Middle School Race!!
- See Schedule in race email and in TeamSnap Schedule.
- Note there is NO BUSSING due to timing of the race – all racers need to be at Mt. Holiday around 3:15pm please!
- This is a SL only race – reminder tickets are included (so no cost)
- MARK YOUR SKIERS AVAILABILITY for the race – it’s very helpful for planning =)

**SUNDAY RACES:
Thank you to all who helped pull together to make last weeks race happen! It’s tough when there is a lot of illness, missing kids and parents, to make the volunteers happen. We appreciate everyone pulling together =)
This week there is NO SUNDAY RACE due to Nordica Winter Rally at Nubs Nob. If you are not choosing to participate in Nordica, enjoy your weekend free skiing!
We will resume our Sunday Races next weekend (February 9) with SL again – right back at it, folks!
**USSS & FIS Race Teams – MS USSS, HS USSS, Intro to USSS, and FIS
Last weekend was so much fun at the Kelsey Barnard Memorial Races at Nubs Nob – thank you to all who joined our crew! Congrats to all our racers – SCARFACE is becoming our friend – and we had some really great results! It was fun to have all our levels of USSS & FIS athletes represented!
